It was undoubtedly the best in Charlotte. My mother worked there and decorated the most beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. They offered everything you could think of. That is one of my fondest memories as a child. I worked there during holidays and on weekends also. The best Long John's and Eclairs in town. My mother is 92 and we still talk about The Pasty Shop. Ask anyone who has been in Charlotte a life time and they will tell you it was the best. I am 56 and have yet to find a place like it. The breads in that shop were soooo yummy. No one will ever compare to The Pastry Shop. I've tried multiple places and none can fit the bill!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9046185673819980880.post-15820234632470234612012-11-07T13:52:58.062-05:002012-11-07T13:52:58.062-05:00Thanks, Bill and Rhonda. I got another good comment via email from David Loughran of Indian Trail:

Reading your article in today’s paper I was reminded of something I learned as a young reporter for Dun& Bradstreet.
Bakeries occupy a unique place in business and commerce.
They are the only enterprises that bring in raw materials, and on the same premises, produce finished goods and sell them at retail.
See if you can name another business that does the same?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9046185673819980880.post-64883581559288088112012-11-07T12:28:18.357-05:002012-11-07T12:28:18.357-05:00I love Sunflour on 7th St. The banana and coconut ...I love Sunflour on 7th St. The banana and coconut creme pies are so good and I appreciate that they use local ingredients.rhondahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00142269251070527022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9046185673819980880.post-76236159992467642012012-11-07T10:40:32.493-05:002012-11-07T10:40:32.493-05:00You need to check out DOUGH New York Style Bakery ...You need to check out DOUGH New York Style Bakery in Concord (www.doughnc.com) They make everything from scratch and the place reminds of the bakeries from back home in Jersey. The Bagels, Italian bread and pastries are the best around.Bill Jonesnoreply@blogger.com
